As we stayed close to Padstow on our last Cornwall holiday, we had to take a trip and of course visit Rick Stein’s fish and chip restaurant.
Padstow is a quaint little Cornish seaside town, with a pretty harbor and some lovely little shops and food places. We had a nice wander around the town, nipped in a few shops and drooled over all the yummy food places. All the food sounded amazing and we decided to grab a couple of pasties to take back for dinner that night (I mean have you even been to Cornwall if you don’t eat a pasty?!?). They were the best decision, I went for a spiced chickpea pasty which was delish!
After visiting Padstow I now understand why it is also know as Padstein. There are Stein’s places everywhere, including fancy restaurants, a bar, a patisserie, cooking schools, a delicatessen and a fish and chip restaurant with a take out section. We parked near the fish and chip place and instantly knew what we were having for lunch on the way back to the car. There was a bit of a queue outside but we weren’t waiting too long to get a seat. Once inside we had a menu full of different fish, I went for the baked lemon sole with traditional chips and tartar sauce. All of the food is served in cardboard boxes to give a fish ‘n’ chip shop feel. I have to say, these were some of the best fish and chips I’ve eaten and I would definitely recommend a trip here if you’re around the area. It’s was reasonably priced so if like us you don’t have loads to spend on a meal this is the best way to try Stein’s food.
We also nipped into his Deli and I had to pick up a couple of bits to try out, I could have bought so much more and if you’re a food lover like me it’s definitely worth a visit. This chutney was divine and the candle smelt amazing!
This is my last post from my May 2017 Cornwall trip, however it won’t be long until I’m back and I CANNOT wait!!
